Free Youth Golf Program at Oakgreen
Oakgreen Golf Course is sponsoring a free Summer Youth Golf Program. This is the second year that Jeff Kemp will coach the program.
Children between ages six to seventeen years old are eligible to sign-up. All lessons are free of charge. Golf clubs will be available for children without clubs. The Youth Golf Program offers children the unique opportunity of playing on an executive sized golf course and learning the golf etiquette required to play this game.
Parents are encouraged to actively assist and Kemp says they are “striving to make this a family program.”
Lessons are available in two time slots: Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. or Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. Lessons begin Tuesday, June 11, and Wednesday, June 12, and will continue weekly throughout the summer.
Space is limited and parents or youth are encouraged to call Oakgreen Golf Course at 922-2273 to register as soon as possible.
I Hate Shakespeare by Steph DeFerie
We hate Shakespeare! At least that's what the audience thinks until they get a rip-roaring rundown of Shakespeare's classics. With zombies, talking cows, and an appearance by Jerry Springer, I Hate Shakespeare is a hilarious and fast-paced introduction to Shakespeare -- with a modern twist.
Friday May 17th and Saturday May 18th at 7:00 pm

FREE and open to the public! Mark your calendars for May 17 and plan to attend the 5th Annual Project GRILL Unveiling. Student creativity and hands-on manufacturing lessons combine to produce one-of-a-kind and sometimes unexpected charcoal grills. Eight high school technical education departments have been paired with eight area manufacturers throughout the school year with the task of designing and building a working charcoal grill from scratch. The students have attacked their task with creativity and energy. And the Unveiling will showcase a school year’s worth of teen-aged enthusiasm and know-how.
From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. students and manufacturers will be in the Festival Foods parking lot, showcasing this year’s creative grills and sharing their experiences.
In addition to the GRILL Unveiling, a brat fry will also be taking place – the perfect way to spend your lunch! This event is open to the public, all are welcome to attend.
